Recent Road-Trippin

I planned at the beginning of the year to take the time to write down my reflections of each month as they pass - I genuinely can't believe we're already into the middle of March. This year has been flying by scarily fast and I've barely had time to stop and think, which is really not where I wanted to be. I think having time to reflect is really important and I definitely need to prioritise time to stop my day to day rushing around and even just spend half an hour reflecting. I wanted look back to all of our road trips we had at the beginning of the year, because frankly since then it's felt as though we've just been working constantly. Looking through all these photos though, we've already seen some incredible places this year and I can't wait to see more!

At the beginning of January, Robbie and I had 3 weeks  off work together (which is a very rare occurrence for us since he works during the week and I work weekends) so we decided to do a few road-trips in his vintage Holden. We explored the Royal National Park were we enjoyed driving through some amazing scenery and had a picnic in Thirroul. We fell completely head over heels in love with Thirroul to the point where we have even been discussing the possibility of moving there one day! Which is really saying something because we both absolutely love where we live now.

We also visited Palm Beach which is another beautiful spot where we often drive to spend our days off together, and spent a lovely weekend in the Blue Mountains which was just as incredible as everyone had described. We did a big walk from our guesthouse in Katoomba to The Three Sisters and then onto the most adorable old fashioned town, Leura. The second day we spent there it rained non-stop but it was the perfect excuse to sleep-in then go for a late breakfast before our drive back.

I think my favourite place that we were lucky enough to visit in January had to be Berry. The town was just so full of character, and had a really sweet country old fashioned vibe like no where else I have visited in Australia. It was filled with so many lovely shops, cafes and old fashioned sweet shops. We then ventured further South to Manyana were we walked along the most beautiful beach I think I've ever visited, the sand was so fine it looked white and squelched as you walked along it, it was incredible.

I would love to know if any road-trip recommendations for New South Wales or Queensland, planning trips keeps me sane during these periods of working 7 days a week!

  1. Beaudifulll! Check out Southern highlands (drive up the Macquarie Pass) and see the quaint towns of Robertson, Berrima, Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale and Burradoo... or if you want to head north Maitland and Morpeth inland from Newcastle are also great historic towns with lots of beautiful scenery.
